The final discourse, confirmed by its own closing words
Confirmed by direct reading, this file's own closing line states plainly that the Indriyasaṁyutta itself is “the fourth” — a book-level closing marker, not merely a vagga-level one, ending this saṃyutta's own 178-discourse span (SN 48.1 through SN 48.178) begun at this project's own earlier work on SN 48.1.
The five higher fetters, in the removal-of-greed key
Mirroring SN 48.115-124's own worked example almost word for word, this discourse gives the five higher fetters (desire for the form and formless realms, conceit, restlessness, ignorance) in full, but closes with “rāgavinayapariyosānaṁ dosavinayapariyosānaṁ mohavinayapariyosānaṁ” — the removal-of-greed formula this vagga's own earlier sections (SN 48.137-146, SN 48.147-158) both cross-referenced — rather than SN 48.115-124's own original “seclusion” formula.
A genuine, unresolved discrepancy: seventeenth or fifteenth?
This project reports honestly, without inventing a resolution: this file's own vagga-level colophon reads “Oghavaggo sattarasamo” (“the Floods chapter, the SEVENTEENTH”), yet this project's own direct tracking of every vagga across SN 48.1-178, confirmed discourse range by discourse range this session, counts fifteen vaggas in total. The discrepancy is noted here exactly as found, not silently corrected or explained away.

The text
§1“Mendicants, there are five higher fetters. What five? Desire for rebirth in the realm of luminous form, desire for rebirth in the formless realm, conceit, restlessness, and ignorance. These are the five higher fetters. The five faculties should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these five higher fetters. What five? It’s when a mendicant develops the faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom, which culminate in the removal of greed, hate, and delusion. These five faculties should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these five higher fetters.”
