Endowed's Own Demonstration
Rather than simply describing her liberation further, Endowed lets Good-Wealth watch it happen — measureless beings stream in through her own house's four gates, each one summoned by her ancient vow, and every single one leaves entirely satisfied from the very same small vessel.
Four Gates, Measureless Beings, One Vessel
Endowed does not simply promise what her liberation can do — she tells Good-Wealth to wait a moment, and the demonstration unfolds immediately: countless beings entering through all four gates of her house, summoned by nothing but her own ancient vow, and fed until every one is satisfied.
善男子！是十千童女，能於此器取上飲食，一剎那頃遍至十方，供養一切後身菩薩、聲聞、獨覺，乃至遍及諸餓鬼趣，皆令充足。善男子！此十千女以我此器，能於天中充足天食，乃至人中充足人食。善男子！且待須臾，汝當自見。」說是語時，善財則見無量眾生從四門入，皆優婆夷本願所請。既來集已，敷座令坐，隨其所須，給施飲食，悉使充足。
"Good son, these ten thousand maidens are able to take the finest food and drink from this very vessel, and within a single instant reach every one of the ten directions, making offerings to every bodhisattva in their final body, every śrāvaka, every pratyekabuddha, and even reaching every realm of hungry ghosts, causing all of them to be entirely satisfied. Good son, these ten thousand maidens, using this vessel of mine, are able to satisfy heavenly food among the gods, and even satisfy human food among humans. Good son, wait just a moment, and you shall see for yourself." Just as she spoke these words, Good-Wealth saw measureless beings entering through the four gates, all of them summoned by the laywoman's own original vow. Once they had gathered, seats were spread out for them to sit, and in accordance with what each one needed, food and drink were given, causing all of them to be entirely satisfied.
South Once More, to Enlightened Wisdom
Having just fed measureless beings from a single vessel, Endowed still reaches for eight similes to describe a merit beyond her own, and closes by sending Good-Wealth south to a householder whose very name promises a different kind of understanding.
告善財言：「善男子！我唯知此無盡福德藏解脫門。如諸菩薩摩訶薩一切功德，猶如大海甚深無盡，猶如虛空廣大無際，如如意珠滿眾生願，如大聚落所求皆得，如須彌山普集眾寶，猶如奧藏常貯法財，猶如明燈破諸黑闇，猶如高蓋普蔭群生；而我云何能知能說彼功德行？「善男子！南方有城，名曰：大興；彼有居士，名曰：明智。汝詣彼問：菩薩云何學菩薩行、修菩薩道？」時，善財童子頂禮其足，遶無量匝，瞻仰無厭，辭退而去。
She said to Good-Wealth: "Good son, I know only this liberation-gate, the Treasury of Inexhaustible Merit. As for the great bodhisattvas' own every merit, it is like the great ocean, profound and inexhaustible, like empty space, vast and boundless, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, fulfilling every being's own wish, like a great settlement, where whatever is sought is obtained, like Mount Sumeru, universally gathering every treasure, like a deep treasury, constantly storing the wealth of the dharma, like a bright lamp, breaking through every darkness, and like a tall canopy, universally shading every being; how could I possibly know or describe their own meritorious practice? Good son, to the south there is a city named Great Flourishing; there is a householder there named Enlightened Wisdom. Go to him and ask: 'How does a bodhisattva learn the bodhisattva practices, and cultivate the bodhisattva path?'" At that time, the boy Good-Wealth bowed his head at her feet, circumambulated her countless times, gazed up at her without ever growing weary, took his leave, and departed.
瞻仰無厭 — gazing up at her without ever growing weary. This closes the same simile Good-Wealth himself used back in Part 996, comparing the good spiritual friend's teaching to an ocean that never tires of receiving rain — here, the description turns from what he receives to what he does, his own gaze now matching that same tirelessness.
