Chapter Eighteen and Fascicle Eighteen Complete

"Their mind abiding in bodhi, they gather every kind of merit; forever without negligence, they plant a firm and unshakeable wisdom; their mind held in right mindfulness, they forever never forget it — and every buddha of the ten directions rejoices. Their intent and aspiration firm, they exert themselves diligently; within the world they rely on nothing, and know no retreat or timidity; through contentionless practice they enter the profound Dharma — and every buddha of the ten directions rejoices.

Once the buddhas have rejoiced, their diligence becomes firm; they cultivate and practice merit and wisdom, the dharmas that assist the path; entering the grounds, they purify every practice, fulfilling the very vows the Tathāgata himself has spoken. Cultivating in this way, they obtain the wondrous Dharma; and having obtained the Dharma, they bestow it on the multitudes of beings, in accordance with each one's own heart's delight and inborn nature, entirely following what fits them as they open it up and expound it.

The bodhisattva, expounding the Dharma for others, never once lets go of their own practice of the perfections; and once the path of the perfections is already accomplished, they forever ferry the multitudes of beings across the ocean of existence. Day and night they diligently cultivate, never slackening or growing weary, causing the seed of the Three Jewels to remain unbroken; and whatever pure and wholesome dharma they practice, all of it they dedicate entirely toward the Tathāgata's own ground.

Every wholesome practice the bodhisattva cultivates is universally for the sake of bringing the multitudes of beings to accomplishment, causing them to break through darkness, extinguish affliction, subdue the armies of Māra, and accomplish right awakening. Cultivating and practicing in this way, they attain the Buddha's own wisdom, entering deeply into the Tathāgata's own treasury of the true Dharma; and, becoming a great Dharma-master, they expound the wondrous Dharma, just as sweet ambrosia entirely drenches and moistens everything.

Their loving-kindness, compassion, and pity extend to everyone; there is no living being's own mind and conduct they fail to know; and in accordance with what each one delights in, they open up and expound the immeasurable, boundless dharma of every buddha. Their advance and their stillness are calm and unhurried, like the king of elephants; their courage is fearless, just like a lion; unmoving, they are like a mountain, and their wisdom is like the ocean — and, like a great rain, they extinguish every burning heat."
