The verse compresses what the prose once told across many Parts — a buddha's single teaching, a mass prophecy, the prince's joyful vow and going-forth, and then kalpa after kalpa of serving buddha after buddha, until a single body enters every land of the ten directions without obstruction.

佛以一音方便說，
法燈普照修多羅，
無量眾生意柔軟，
悉蒙與授菩提記。
善伏太子生歡喜，
發興無上正覺心，
誓願承事於如來，
普為眾生作依處。
便即出家依佛住，
修行一切種智道，
爾時便得此解脫，
大悲廣濟諸群生。
於中止住經劫海，
諦觀諸法真實性，
常於苦海救眾生，
如是修習菩提道。
劫中所有諸佛現，
悉皆承事無有餘，
咸以清淨信解心，
聽聞持護所說法。
次於佛剎微塵數，
無量無邊諸劫海，
所有諸佛現世間，
一一供養皆如是。
我念往昔為太子，
見諸眾生在牢獄，
誓願捨身而救護，
因其證此解脫門。
經於佛剎微塵數，
廣大劫海常修習，
念念令其得增長，
復獲無邊巧方便。
彼中所有諸如來，
我悉得見蒙開悟，
令我增明此解脫，
及以種種方便力。
我於無量千億劫，
學此難思解脫門；
諸佛法海無有邊，
我悉一時能普飲。
十方所有一切剎，
其身普入無所礙；
三世種種國土名，
念念了知皆悉盡。
The buddha, with a single voice, skilfully expounded
a sūtra that, like a lamp of dharma, universally illumined;
measureless beings, their minds grown soft and pliant,
all received from him the prophecy of bodhi.
Prince Well-Subdued gave rise to joy,
and brought forth the mind of unsurpassed true awakening;
he vowed to serve the tathāgata,
and universally become a refuge for beings.
At once he went forth from home to dwell with the Buddha,
cultivating the path to the wisdom of all modes;
at that very time he attained this liberation,
and with great compassion broadly rescued the multitude of beings.
Abiding there throughout an ocean of kalpas,
he truly contemplated the real nature of every dharma;
forever, in the ocean of suffering, rescuing beings,
thus he cultivated the path of bodhi.
Every buddha who appeared throughout that kalpa,
he served entirely, leaving not a single one aside;
with a mind of pure faith and understanding, wholly,
he heard, upheld, and guarded the dharma each one spoke.
Next, throughout kalpas as many as the fine motes of dust in buddha-lands,
measureless and boundless oceans of kalpas,
every buddha who arose in the world,
he made offerings to each and every one, just the same.
I call to mind that, in ages past, as the prince,
I saw those beings bound within the prison;
I vowed to give up my own body to rescue and protect them,
and because of that, I realised this liberation-gate.
Throughout kalpas as many as the fine motes of dust in buddha-lands,
in a vast and great ocean of kalpas, I constantly cultivated it;
in thought after thought I caused it to grow ever further,
and thereby gained boundless skilful means besides.
Every tathāgata that appeared within that span,
I came to see them all, and received their awakening,
which caused this liberation to grow ever clearer in me,
together with every kind of skilful power.
Throughout measureless thousands of koṭis of kalpas,
I studied this inconceivable liberation-gate;
the ocean of every buddha's dharma has no boundary,
yet I am able, all at once, to drink it in entirely.
Into every land that exists throughout the ten directions,
this very body enters everywhere, without obstruction;
the names of every kind of land across the three times,
in thought after thought, I know and understand them all, completely.
便即出家依佛住⋯⋯爾時便得此解脫 — at once he went forth from home to dwell with the Buddha⋯⋯at that very time he attained this liberation. The prose account, back in Part 1175, took an entire Part to describe this same going-forth and five hundred years of cultivation, item after item, in a list running to a full million of everything. Here, the same span of practice passes in a single stanza, the list collapsed down to one line: 大悲廣濟諸群生, with great compassion broadly rescuing the multitude of beings.
