Not Long From Now

At that time, Good-Wealth, heading toward the city of Kapilavastu, contemplated and cultivated the liberation of taking birth, causing it to increase and grow vast, calling it to mind without ever letting it go. Travelling onward by stages, he arrived at the Lecture Hall of the Bodhisattva Assembly Universally Manifesting the Dharma-Realm's Light. Within it there was a spirit, named Sorrowless Virtue, who, together with ten thousand palace-guardian spirits, came out to welcome Good-Wealth, and spoke to him thus: "Welcome, great hero! You possess great wisdom, and possess great courage; you are able to cultivate the bodhisattva's inconceivable and sovereign liberation, your mind forever holding fast to vast and expansive vows, skilfully able to contemplate the domain of every dharma; abiding firmly in the city of dharma, you have entered measureless gates of skilful means, and accomplished the great ocean of the tathāgata's own merit; you have attained wondrous eloquence, are skilled at taming beings, have obtained the noble body of wisdom, and forever act in accordance with your cultivation, knowing the differing mental conduct of every being, and causing them to rejoice and advance toward the path of buddhahood. "I observe that you, sir, cultivate every wondrous practice with a mind that never slackens even for an instant, and that your every dignified bearing and conduct is entirely pure; before long, you shall attain the pure and adorned, unsurpassed three actions of every tathāgata, adorning your body with every excellent mark, and burnishing your mind with the wisdom of the ten powers, as you journey through every world. "I observe that you, sir, are courageous and vigorous beyond all compare; before long, you shall universally behold every buddha of the three times and hear and receive their dharma; before long, you shall attain the joy of every bodhisattva's dhyāna, liberation, and every samādhi; before long, you shall enter the profound liberation of every buddha and tathāgata. "Why is this? Because, having seen a good spiritual friend, drawn near to her and made offerings, heard and received her teaching, called it to mind and cultivated it, never slackening, never retreating, without sorrow, without regret, and without any obstruction — Māra and Māra's own subjects will be unable to trouble you — before long, you shall accomplish the unsurpassed fruit."
