Worlds Shaped Like Lotus Flowers
Gopā's account leaves the single kalpa she began with and reaches past it — to every kalpa yet to come in the Sahā world, then outward through worlds inside worlds inside motes of dust, until it arrives at the whole Flower-Treasury Adorned World-Ocean of Vairocana himself.
Worlds Shaped Like Lotus Flowers
What began as knowledge of one kalpa in one world now expands past every boundary at once — time without end, and worlds nested inside worlds inside a single mote of dust.
「善男子！此娑婆世界，盡未來際，所有劫海，展轉不斷，我皆了知。如知娑婆世界，亦知娑婆世界內微塵數世界，亦知娑婆世界內一切世界，亦知娑婆世界微塵內所有世界，亦知娑婆世界外十方無間所住世界，亦知娑婆世界世界種所攝世界，亦知毘盧遮那世尊此華藏世界海中十方無量諸世界種所攝世界，所謂：世界廣博、世界安立、世界輪、世界場、世界差別、世界轉、世界蓮華、世界須彌、世界名號。盡此世界海一切世界，由毘盧遮那世尊本願力故，我悉能知，亦能憶念。
"Good son, throughout this Sahā world, to the very end of future time, every ocean of kalpas there is, unfolding one after another without a single break, I know in full. Just as I know the Sahā world, I likewise know the worlds as numerous as the fine motes of dust within the Sahā world; I likewise know every world within the Sahā world; I likewise know every world contained within a single mote of dust of the Sahā world; I likewise know the worlds dwelling without interval throughout the ten directions beyond the Sahā world; I likewise know the worlds contained within the world-seed of the Sahā world; and I likewise know the worlds contained within the measureless world-seeds of the ten directions within this Flower-Treasury Adorned World-Ocean of the World-Honored One Vairocana — that is to say: worlds vast and expansive, worlds firmly established, worlds shaped as wheels, worlds shaped as arenas, worlds of every kind of difference, worlds that revolve, worlds shaped as lotus-flowers, worlds shaped as Sumeru, and the very names of those worlds. Throughout every single world within this whole world-ocean, through the power of the World-Honored One Vairocana's own original vow, I am entirely able to know them, and am also able to call them to mind."
世界廣博、世界安立、世界輪、世界場、世界差別、世界轉、世界蓮華、世界須彌、世界名號 — worlds vast and expansive, worlds firmly established, worlds shaped as wheels, worlds shaped as arenas, worlds of every kind of difference, worlds that revolve, worlds shaped as lotus-flowers, worlds shaped as Sumeru, and the very names of those worlds. Counted directly, nine categories close this passage, and only the last one is not a shape or scale at all — after eight ways of describing what worlds look like, the ninth simply names them, as though naming were itself one more thing a world can be known by.
