Windows and Doorways Made of Maṇi
The lion-throne's description reaches its architectural details — windows and doorways formed entirely of maṇi jewels, a sovereign mind-jewel granting whatever is wished, and necklace after necklace of pearl, lapis lazuli, and maṇi hanging down on every side — before closing with a hundred million kinds of fragrance, each perfuming the ten directions or every buddha-land without ever once fading.
From Windows of Jewel to Fragrance Without End
The throne's catalog moves from ribbons and inset ornaments to its very architecture — windows, doorways, and a treasury all formed of named varieties of maṇi jewel — before turning to necklace after necklace draped around it. The description closes, fittingly, on scent: a hundred million kinds of fragrance, several of them explicitly said never to fade, perfuming not just the throne's own hall but every buddha-land there is.

A hundred million pearl necklaces, a hundred million lapis lazuli necklaces, a hundred million necklaces of red-colored jewels, a hundred million maṇi necklaces, a hundred million necklaces of jeweled light, a hundred million necklaces of maṇi of every kind of treasury, a hundred million necklaces of red pearls, most delightful to behold, a hundred million necklaces of maṇi jewels, treasuries of boundless form and color, a hundred million necklaces of jewels utterly pure and beyond compare, and a hundred million necklaces of maṇi jewels of supreme light, hanging down all around as adornment; a hundred million maṇi bodies, wondrously and superbly adorned; a hundred million indranīla jewels of wondrous color, a hundred million fragrances of black sandalwood, a hundred million fragrances of the inconceivable domain, a hundred million wondrous fragrances of the ten directions, a hundred million most supreme fragrances, and a hundred million fragrances utterly delightful and lovable, all releasing their scent, perfuming the ten directions universally; a hundred million bimbara fragrances, scattering universally throughout the ten directions; a hundred million fragrances of pure light, universally perfuming every living being; a hundred million fragrances of every boundless color, universally perfuming every buddha-land, never once ceasing or fading; a hundred million anointing incenses, a hundred million perfuming incenses, and a hundred million burning incenses, their fragrance rising forth, universally perfuming everything; a hundred million lotus-treasury aloeswood fragrances, sending forth a great sound; a hundred million fragrances of playful delight, able to transform the minds of the multitude; a hundred million aruṇa fragrances, their scent universally perfuming the air, their taste sweet and delicious; and a hundred million fragrances able to awaken understanding, pervading everything universally, causing whoever smells them to have every faculty become tranquil and still.
The sovereign mind-jewel that grants "whatever is sought exactly as wished" is the cintāmaṇi of Buddhist and broader Indian legend — a wish-fulfilling jewel — placed here as one item among a hundred million others rather than singled out for special comment, which is itself a kind of comment: on a throne built to this scale, even a wish-fulfilling jewel is simply one more variety of maṇi. The fragrances that close the passage make an unusually explicit claim — several are said to perfume not merely the room but "every buddha-land," and to do so "never once ceasing or fading," extending the throne's own scale from the merely vast to the literally endless.
