Offerings Born from Realization Itself
Bodhisattvas who had already dwelt in the Tuṣita palace before the Buddha's arrival make offerings the sūtra traces back not to simple feeling but to specific doctrinal attainment: a jeweled canopy born from a pāramitā, a garment born from the acceptance of the non-arising of dharmas, a net of bells born from a mind that enters the vajra-like Dharma without obstruction.
Every Offering Traced to Its Own Realization
Where the previous Part paired offerings with named emotions, this one pairs them with named attainments — a mind that transcends the three realms, the acceptance of the non-arising of dharmas, understanding every dharma as like an illusion or a dream — each producing a specific physical offering as though realization itself could take visible form. These bodhisattvas then each multiply themselves into indescribable further bodhisattvas, filling the Dharma-realm with inexhaustible eloquence and unceasing praise.
A hundred thousand million nayutas of indescribable bodhisattvas who had already dwelt in the Tuṣita palace brought forth offerings surpassing every heavenly one, and made offerings to the Buddha — offerings born from the Dharma that transcends the three realms, born from conduct free of every affliction, born from a mind that pervades everywhere without obstruction, born from the Dharma of profound skillful means, born from immeasurable and vast wisdom, born from inconceivable wholesome roots increased by firm and pure faith, accomplished by giving rise to asaṃkhyeya skillful transformations, manifested from the very mind that makes offerings to the Buddha, and sealed by the Dharma-gate of non-action; with every jeweled canopy born from the perfection, every flower-curtain born from the pure understanding of every buddha's own domain, every garment born from the acceptance of the non-arising of dharmas, every net of bells born from a mind that enters, without any obstruction, the vajra-like Dharma, every solid fragrance born from a mind that understands every dharma as like an illusion, every buddha's own wondrous throne of every jewel, born from a mind pervading every buddha's own domain, the very mind of the Tathāgata's own throne, every jeweled banner-pole born from a mind of unflagging offering to the Buddha, every jeweled palace where the Buddha dwells, born from a joyful mind that understands every dharma as like a dream, and, born from wholesome roots free of attachment and wholesome roots of non-arising, every cloud of jeweled lotus flowers, every cloud of solid fragrance, every cloud of boundless colored flowers, every cloud of wondrous garments of every color, every cloud of boundless pure sandalwood fragrance, every cloud of wondrously adorned jeweled canopies, every cloud of burning incense, every cloud of wondrous garlands, and every cloud of pure adorning implements — all of them pervading the entire Dharma-realm, bringing forth offerings surpassing every heavenly one, and making offerings to the Buddha.
Each and every one of these bodhisattvas, from each and every one of their own bodies, manifested indescribable hundreds of thousands of millions of nayutas of bodhisattvas, entirely filling the Dharma-realm and the realm of empty space, their minds equal to every buddha of the three periods of time; arising from the Dharma free of any distorted view, empowered by the immeasurable power of the Tathāgata, opening up and revealing to living beings the path of peace and security, fully endowed with indescribable names, savors, and phrases, universally entering immeasurable dharmas, and giving rise, from within every kind of dhāraṇī, to an inexhaustible treasury of eloquence; their mind free of any fear, giving rise to great joy, and, with indescribable, immeasurable, and inexhaustible dharmas of true and real praise, extolling the Tathāgata, never once growing weary or satisfied.
The logic here reverses the ordinary direction of cause and effect between practice and offering: rather than a bodhisattva cultivating a perfection in order to have something to offer, the perfection itself is described as directly generating the jeweled canopy, as though realization and its outward expression were never two separate steps. This matches a pattern the sūtra keeps returning to — that the offerings which matter are not fetched from elsewhere but manifested from the offerer's own mind, here specified down to the exact dharma that mind has realized.
