The True Dharma-Seal
The bodhisattva's vast offerings are shown resting on a mind entirely free of attachment, mental conception, and reliance — far removed from self and from what belongs to self, sealing every gateway of karma with the true and real Dharma-seal. Twelve distinct qualifications on the indestructible dedication follow, each ending in "dedication," moving from non-action and non-attachment to the vast conduct of every bodhisattva and the mind of unsurpassed bodhi itself.
Sealing Every Gateway of Karma
The passage turns from the scale of the offerings themselves to the mind that makes them — free of attachment, mental conception, reliance, and any notion of self or what belongs to self. The image of a "Dharma-seal" pressed onto every gateway of karma gives this freedom a concrete shape: not an absence but an active sealing, marking every karmic action with the imprint of what is true and real.
如是修集無量功德，皆為成熟一切眾生，無有退轉，無有休息，無有疲厭；無有執著，離諸心想；無有依止，永絕所依；遠離於我，及以我所；如實法印，印諸業門；得法無生，住佛所住；觀無生性，印諸境界。
Cultivating and gathering immeasurable merit in just this way, all for the sake of bringing every living being to maturity, without ever regressing, without any rest, and without any weariness; without any attachment, leaving behind every mental conception; without any reliance, forever cutting off whatever might be relied upon; far removed from self, and from what belongs to self; sealing every gateway of karma with the true and real Dharma-seal; attaining the non-arising of dharmas, abiding wherever the Buddha abides; contemplating the nature of non-arising, sealing every domain.
諸佛護念發心迴向，與諸法性相應迴向，入無作法成就所作方便迴向，捨離一切諸事想著方便迴向，住於無量善巧迴向，永出一切諸有迴向，修行諸行不住於相善巧迴向，普攝一切善根迴向，普淨一切菩薩諸行廣大迴向，發無上菩提心迴向，與一切善根同住迴向，滿足最上信解心迴向。
Dedication arising from the mind protected and mindfully upheld by every buddha — dedication in accordance with the very nature of every dharma — dedication that enters the dharma of non-action while accomplishing skillful means of action — dedication that abandons every attachment to any matter through skillful means — dedication abiding in immeasurable skillful means — dedication forever transcending every realm of existence — dedication that cultivates every practice through skillful means without abiding in any mark — dedication that universally gathers in every wholesome root — dedication that universally purifies the vast conduct of every bodhisattva — dedication that gives rise to the mind of unsurpassed bodhi — dedication that abides together with every wholesome root — dedication that fully satisfies the mind of supreme faith and understanding.
"Enters the dharma of non-action while accomplishing skillful means of action" restates, in the language of this particular dedication, the same balance the first dedication insisted on between karma and its retribution — action and non-action are not opposites to choose between, but two descriptions of a single practice seen from different angles. The twelve-item catalog that follows functions as a companion to the twenty-item catalog from the first dedication, applying the same refusal of attachment to a new context.
