Seventeen Kinds of Giving Mind
The bodhisattva now dedicates his gathered wholesome roots "moment by moment" through ten concise vows — wealth, merit, safety, the growing of bodhisattva deeds, the vehicle of all-wisdom, seeing every buddha, leaving delusion behind. What follows opens into one of the sūtra's characteristic long litanies: a list, beginning here and continuing well beyond this Part, of the specific purposes his dedication serves, opening with seventeen named kinds of giving mind itself.
A Mind That Takes Many Forms
Where the sixth dedication named many kinds of giving by their object — a house, a garden, a kingdom — this litany names giving by the shape of the mind that performs it: joyful, unbroken across every future kalpa, free of regret, vast, unattached, radiant as the sun, mighty as vajra. Giving itself, the list suggests, is not a single act but many different interior postures, each worth naming on its own.
「佛子！菩薩摩訶薩以所集善根，於念念中如是迴向，所謂：『願一切眾生財寶豐足，無所乏少；願一切眾生成就無盡大功德藏；願一切眾生具足一切安隱快樂；願一切眾生增長菩薩摩訶薩業；願一切眾生成滿無量第一勝法；願一切眾生得不退轉一切智乘；願一切眾生普見十方一切諸佛；願一切眾生永離世間諸惑塵垢；願一切眾生皆得清淨平等之心；願一切眾生離諸難處，得一切智。』
"Child of the Buddha! The bodhisattva mahāsattva, with the wholesome roots he has gathered, dedicates them moment by moment in this way, namely: 'May all sentient beings be abundant in wealth and treasure, lacking nothing at all; may all sentient beings accomplish an inexhaustible great treasury of merit; may all sentient beings fully possess every safety and happiness; may all sentient beings increase and grow the deeds of a bodhisattva mahāsattva; may all sentient beings accomplish and fulfill immeasurable, foremost, supreme dharmas; may all sentient beings attain the never-regressing vehicle of all-wisdom; may all sentient beings universally behold every buddha in the ten directions; may all sentient beings forever leave behind every worldly delusion and defiling dust; may all sentient beings all attain a pure and equal mind; may all sentient beings leave behind every place of difficulty, and attain all-wisdom.'"

"Child of the Buddha! When the bodhisattva mahāsattva dedicates in this way, he gives rise to a mind of joy; so that all sentient beings may obtain benefit and peaceful happiness; so that all sentient beings may attain a mind of equality; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind able to relinquish; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving everything; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of joyful giving; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving that forever leaves behind poverty; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving every kind of wealth and treasure; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving countless kinds of wealth and treasure; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of universal giving, immeasurable giving, and giving of everything; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving that never breaks off throughout every future kalpa; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving that relinquishes everything entirely, without regret and without distress; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving that relinquishes every article for sustaining life entirely; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving in accordance; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving that gathers in; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of vast giving; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving that relinquishes immeasurable adornments as offerings; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving free of attachment; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of equal giving; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving with the utmost great power, like vajra; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving radiant like the light of the sun; so that all sentient beings may abide in a mind of giving that gathers in the wisdom of the Tathāgata;
Two similes stand out among the seventeen: giving with "the utmost great power, like vajra" and giving "radiant like the light of the sun." Where vajra suggests giving that nothing can break or diminish, sunlight suggests giving that reaches everywhere impartially, asking nothing of what it falls upon — two different pictures of the same unconditional generosity.

This continues the seventh dedication's long litany of purposes. Chapter 25 continues in Part 334 as the litany shifts from kinds of giving mind to their result — wholesome roots and spiritual companions made entirely complete, wisdom that stays constantly present, and a purified mind that can never be destroyed.
