The Six Perfections, Made Entirely Pure

The dedication litany continues, moving from the seventeen kinds of giving mind named in the previous Part toward their fruit: wholesome roots and spiritual companions made entirely complete, wisdom that stays constantly present, doubt extinguished, and unshakable meditative absorption. It closes this stretch of the litany by naming the six perfections by name — moral discipline, forbearance, diligence, meditative absorption, and wisdom — each dedicated toward the purity of every sentient being.

From Giving Mind to the Perfections Themselves

Having named seventeen kinds of giving mind, the litany widens its scope: mind free of doubt, unshakable meditative absorption, freedom from Māra's obstructions, constant recollection of every buddha — before arriving explicitly at the perfections that structure the entire bodhisattva path, moral discipline, forbearance, diligence, meditative absorption, and the wisdom that knows every dharma to be without any intrinsic essence.

Ru-Yi Translation

So that all sentient beings' wholesome roots and spiritual companions may be entirely complete; so that all sentient beings' wholesome-root wisdom may forever remain present before them; so that all sentient beings may attain an indestructible, pure mind brought to fulfillment; so that all sentient beings may accomplish the most excellent, pure wholesome roots; so that all sentient beings may awaken from the slumber of affliction; so that all sentient beings may extinguish every doubt and confusion; so that all sentient beings may attain equal wisdom and pure merit; so that all sentient beings' merit may be brought to fulfillment, destroyed by none; so that all sentient beings may fully possess pure, unshakable meditative absorption; so that all sentient beings may abide in the indestructible wisdom of all-wisdom; so that all sentient beings may accomplish and fulfill the bodhisattva's immeasurable, pure practice of spiritual powers; so that all sentient beings may cultivate and gather wholesome roots free of attachment; so that all sentient beings' minds, in recollecting every buddha of the past, future, and present, may become pure; so that all sentient beings may give rise to pure, supreme wholesome roots; so that all sentient beings may extinguish every obstructing dharma that Māra's karmic acts have created; so that all sentient beings may fully possess the unobstructed, pure, and equal dharma of merit; so that all sentient beings, with a vast mind, may forever recollect every buddha without ever growing slack or abandoning it; so that all sentient beings may forever draw near to every buddha and diligently make offerings; so that all sentient beings may broadly open every gate of wholesome roots, and be universally able to fulfill every pure and unblemished dharma; so that all sentient beings' immeasurable mind, vast mind, and supreme mind may all become pure; so that all sentient beings may accomplish a pure mind of equal giving; so that all sentient beings may uphold every buddha's own perfection of moral discipline and become pure in that same way; so that all sentient beings may attain the great perfection of forbearance; so that all sentient beings may abide in the perfection of diligence, forever without slackening; so that all sentient beings may abide in immeasurable meditative absorptions, able to give rise to every kind of wisdom of spiritual power; so that all sentient beings may attain the perfection of wisdom that knows every dharma to be without any intrinsic essence; so that all sentient beings may fulfill the boundless, pure Dharma-realm; so that all sentient beings may accomplish and fulfill every pure wholesome root of spiritual power.

Reading note — Ru-Yi Meditation Center

The six perfections appear here not as a formal, numbered list but woven into the litany's ongoing rhythm — moral discipline, forbearance, diligence, meditative absorption, and wisdom each surface in their own clause, named by function rather than announced as a set. Giving, the perfection this entire dedication keeps returning to, is present throughout rather than named separately here, since the whole litany is itself an act of dedicating the fruit of giving.

Part 334 Complete

This continues the seventh dedication's long dedication litany. Chapter 25 continues in Part 335 as the litany turns to the fruits of the bodhisattva path more directly — abiding in equal practice, wholesome dharmas gathered to fulfillment, and entry into the domain of every buddha without exception.
