Reaching the Shore Adorned by Samantabhadra

The litany continues into new territory: mastery over the Dharma itself, reaching "the farther shore adorned by Samantabhadra," and a list of ten named kinds of skillful means — immeasurable, inconceivable, a bodhisattva's own, the skillful means of all-wisdom — before culminating in the fulfillment of Samantabhadra's dedication practice and vow, manifesting true enlightenment for the sake of every sentient being.

All-Wisdom That Is Never Exhausted

The stretch opens with a quiet paradox worth pausing on: the bodhisattva "contemplates and awakens" to every domain "entirely with all-wisdom, and yet all-wisdom itself is never exhausted" — comprehension complete in each instance without ever depleting the wisdom that makes comprehension possible, the same non-diminishing abundance this dedication has attributed to Samantabhadra's practice throughout.

Ru-Yi Translation

With a mind of non-attachment, non-bondage, and liberation, he abides in the practice of a bodhisattva, attaining mastery over the Dharma, reaching the farther shore adorned by Samantabhadra; within each and every domain, he contemplates and awakens to it entirely with all-wisdom, and yet all-wisdom itself is never exhausted. With a mind of non-attachment, non-bondage, and liberation, from this very life onward to the very limit of the future, he abides in Samantabhadra's own practice, forever without rest, attaining all-wisdom, awakening to inexpressible, inexpressible true and real dharmas, reaching the ultimate end of the Dharma, without any confusion. With a mind of non-attachment, non-bondage, and liberation, he cultivates Samantabhadra's own deeds, his skillful means sovereign, attaining the light of the Dharma, illuminating and comprehending every practice cultivated by any bodhisattva, without any obstruction. With a mind of non-attachment, non-bondage, and liberation, he cultivates Samantabhadra's own practice, attaining the wisdom of every skillful means, knowing every skillful means, namely: immeasurable skillful means, inconceivable skillful means, a bodhisattva's own skillful means, the skillful means of all-wisdom, the skillful means of taming every bodhisattva, the skillful means of turning the immeasurable wheel of the Dharma, the skillful means of inexpressible time, the skillful means of expounding every kind of dharma, the skillful means of the boundless treasury of fearlessness, and the skillful means of expounding every dharma without remainder. With a mind of non-attachment, non-bondage, and liberation, he abides in Samantabhadra's own practice, accomplishing the action of body, causing every sentient being who sees him to rejoice, giving rise to no slander at all; he gives rise to the mind of enlightenment, forever never regressing, ultimately pure. With a mind of non-attachment, non-bondage, and liberation, he cultivates Samantabhadra's own practice, attaining the pure wisdom of comprehending the language of every sentient being, every word entirely adorned, universally responding to sentient beings, causing them all to rejoice. With a mind of non-attachment, non-bondage, and liberation, he abides in Samantabhadra's own practice, establishing a supreme resolve, possessing a pure mind, attaining vast spiritual power and vast wisdom, universally journeying to every vast world, vast land, and the place of vast sentient beings, expounding every Tathāgata's own inexpressible, vast Dharma, the vast, adorned, and perfected treasury. With a mind of non-attachment, non-bondage, and liberation, he accomplishes and fulfills Samantabhadra's own dedication practice and vow, attaining every buddha's own pure body, pure mind, and pure understanding, gathering in the buddha's own merit, abiding in the buddha's own domain, the seal of wisdom universally illuminating, manifesting the bodhisattva's own pure deeds, skillfully entering the meaning of every distinct phrase, manifesting the vast sovereignty of every buddha and bodhisattva, manifesting the accomplishment of true enlightenment for the sake of every sentient being.

Reading note — Ru-Yi Meditation Center

The tenfold list of skillful means moves from the most abstract — "immeasurable," "inconceivable" — toward the most concrete: "the skillful means of expounding every dharma without remainder." Naming ten distinct kinds where a single word might have sufficed reflects a pattern this whole dedication keeps returning to: the freed mind's capacity is described not as one great power but as many specific, nameable ones.

Part 359 Complete

This continues the ninth dedication's litany of Samantabhadra's practice. Chapter 25 continues in Part 360 as the bodhisattva diligently cultivates fourteen named kinds of Samantabhadra's own faculties, from the keen and sharp to the tamed and compliant, establishing immeasurable sentient beings in the root of all-wisdom.
