Fifty more rungs of the Buddha's answer to the Bodhisattva Mind King, each one still the square of the name before it. A handful of these names briefly break from pure sound into plain meaning — the Tamed, the Prideless, the Unmoving, the Utmost — before the chain returns to sound alone for its final long stretch.

The ladder begun in Part 567 continues unbroken from Helipu. Partway through this stretch, four names step out of pure sound into ordinary meaning, before the chain returns to invented names for its remainder.

For four rungs in the middle of this stretch, the ladder briefly abandons invented sound for plain Chinese words — taming, pride, stillness, an upper limit — words that could just as easily describe stages of meditation as steps in a number sequence, before the text returns to pure transliteration for the remaining rungs.
