A Single Hair-Tip
The verses leave counting behind and turn to nesting. A single hair-tip holds unspeakable lands; each land holds unspeakable buddhas; each buddha's pores hold unspeakable light; and that light keeps opening onto lotuses, moons, suns, and thrones, each one holding the next, until a single jewel like Mount Sumeru appears and pours out lands of its own.
What a Hair-Tip Holds
The verses open their central image: not a number this time, but a single point of space — the tip of a single hair — already containing more than any number could hold.
於一微細毛端處，有不可說諸普賢，一切毛端悉亦爾，如是乃至遍法界。
一毛端處所有剎，其數無量不可說，盡虛空量諸毛端，一一處剎悉如是。
彼毛端處諸國土，無量種類差別住，有不可說異類剎，有不可說同類剎。
不可言說毛端處，皆有淨剎不可說，種種莊嚴不可說，種種奇妙不可說。
於彼一一毛端處，演不可說諸佛名，一一名有諸如來，皆不可說不可說。
一一諸佛於身上，現不可說諸毛孔，於彼一一毛孔中，現眾色相不可說。
不可言說諸毛孔，咸放光明不可說，於彼一一光明中，悉現蓮華不可說。
於彼一一蓮華內，悉有眾葉不可說，不可說華眾葉中，各現色相不可說。
Within a single fine hair-tip, there are unspeakable Samantabhadras; every hair-tip is likewise so, extending in this way throughout the entire dharma-realm.
The lands within a single hair-tip number a measureless, unspeakable amount; through the whole extent of empty space, every hair-tip is filled with lands just the same.
The various lands within that hair-tip abide in measureless, differing kinds; there are unspeakable lands of differing type, and unspeakable lands of the same type.
Within unspeakable hair-tips, there are entirely unspeakable pure lands, adorned in every unspeakable way, wondrous in every unspeakable way.
Within each and every one of those hair-tips, unspeakable names of buddhas are proclaimed; for every single name there are tathāgatas, all unspeakably, unspeakably many.
On the body of each and every buddha, unspeakable pores appear; and within each and every one of those pores, unspeakable forms and colors appear.
From unspeakable pores, an unspeakable radiance is entirely emitted; and within each and every one of those lights, unspeakable lotus flowers entirely appear.
Within each and every one of those lotus flowers, there are entirely unspeakable petals; and within the petals of those unspeakable flowers, unspeakable forms and colors each appear.
於一微細毛端處，有不可說諸普賢 — within a single fine hair-tip, there are unspeakable Samantabhadras. Chapter twenty-nine's acceptance like space (Part 566) held that a bodhisattva's wisdom is measured against space itself, which has no beginning, middle, or end. Here the same non-measure is folded into the smallest possible point — a single hair-tip — rather than the largest. Both directions arrive at the same unspeakable.
Light Opening Onto Light
The chain keeps nesting: colors inside petals, light inside colors, moons inside light, suns inside moons, until a jewel like Mount Sumeru appears and, on its own, pours out unspeakable lands.
彼不可說諸色內，復現眾葉不可說，葉中光明不可說，光中色相不可說。
此不可說色相中，一一現光不可說，光中現月不可說，月復現月不可說。
於不可說諸月中，一一現光不可說，於彼一一光明內，復現於日不可說。
於不可說諸日中，一一現色不可說，於彼一一諸色內，又現光明不可說。
於彼一一光明內，現不可說師子座，一一嚴具不可說，一一光明不可說。
光中妙色不可說，色中淨光不可說，於彼一一淨光內，復現種種妙光明。
此光復現種種光，不可言說不可說，如是種種光明內，各現妙寶如須彌。
一一光中所現寶，不可言說不可說，彼如須彌一妙寶，現眾剎土不可說。
Within those unspeakable colors, unspeakable petals again appear; within the petals, an unspeakable light; within the light, unspeakable forms and colors.
Within these unspeakable forms and colors, unspeakable light appears in each and every one; within the light, unspeakable moons appear; and within the moons, unspeakable moons appear again.
Within unspeakable moons, unspeakable light appears in each and every one; and within each and every one of those lights, unspeakable suns again appear.
Within unspeakable suns, unspeakable colors appear in each and every one; and within each and every one of those colors, unspeakable light appears once more.
Within each and every one of those lights, unspeakable lion-thrones appear; each and every ornament on them unspeakable, each and every light upon them unspeakable.
Within the light, unspeakable wondrous colors; within the colors, unspeakable pure light; and within each and every one of those pure lights, every manner of wondrous radiance again appears.
This light again gives rise to every manner of light, unspeakably, unspeakably many; and within every one of these lights, wondrous jewels like Mount Sumeru each appear.
The jewels appearing within each and every light are unspeakably, unspeakably many; and from that single wondrous jewel like Sumeru, unspeakable multitudes of lands appear.
月復現月不可說 — within the moons, unspeakable moons appear again. Nothing in this chain ever reaches a final, smallest layer. Colors open onto petals, petals onto light, light onto moons, moons onto more moons, on through suns, thrones, and jewels — each container turning out to already contain the next one, without the regress ever bottoming out. This is the same structure Indra's net describes elsewhere in the sūtra, run here as a sequence instead of a single image.
