Inconceivable Samādhis, Unobstructed Liberation
The chapter's final two lists close where its earlier lists on dust and hair-tips began: ten buddha-samādhis reaching every place within a single thought, and ten kinds of liberation that fit unspeakable buddhas, lands, and beings within a single mote of dust — Blue Lotus Treasury Bodhisattva's entire answer to the question that opened the chapter finally complete.
Ten Inconceivable Buddha-Samādhis
Every item in this list shares the same frame — constantly abiding in right concentration, within a single thought-moment, pervading every place — and each one fills that frame with a different teaching, from the limit of no-self to the dependent arising underlying everything.
「佛子！諸佛世尊有十種無量不可思議佛三昧。何等為十？所謂：一切諸佛恒在正定，於一念中遍一切處，普為眾生廣說妙法；一切諸佛恒在正定，於一念中遍一切處，普為眾生說無我際；一切諸佛恒住正定，於一念中遍一切處，普入三世；一切諸佛恒在正定，於一念中遍一切處，普入十方廣大佛剎；一切諸佛恒在正定，於一念中遍一切處，普現無量種種佛身；一切諸佛恒在正定，於一念中遍一切處，隨諸眾生種種心解現身、語、意；一切諸佛恒在正定，於一念中遍一切處，說一切法離欲真際；一切諸佛恒住正定，於一念中遍一切處，演說一切緣起自性；一切諸佛恒住正定，於一念中遍一切處，示現無量世、出世間廣大莊嚴，令諸眾生常得見佛；一切諸佛恒住正定，於一念中遍一切處，令諸眾生悉得通達一切佛法、無量解脫，究竟到於無上彼岸。是為十。
"Sons of the Buddha! The buddhas, the World-Honored Ones, have ten kinds of measureless, inconceivable buddha-samādhi. What are these ten? They are: every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, universally expounds the wondrous dharma broadly for the sake of sentient beings; every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, universally teaches the limit of no-self for the sake of sentient beings; every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, universally enters the three times; every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, universally enters the vast buddha-lands of the ten directions; every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, universally manifests measureless and various buddha-bodies; every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, manifests body, speech, and mind according to the various mental understanding of sentient beings; every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, teaches that every dharma is free of desire, the true limit; every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, expounds the own-nature of every dependent arising; every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, manifests the measureless vast adornment of every worldly and world-transcending thing, causing sentient beings to constantly be able to see a buddha; and every buddha constantly abides in right concentration, and within a single thought-moment, pervading every place, causes sentient beings to entirely penetrate every buddha-dharma and measureless liberation, ultimately reaching the unsurpassed far shore. These are the ten.
A Mote of Dust, Holding Everything
The chapter's final list returns to a mote of dust — the same image that closed out fascicle forty-five's chapter on great numbers — and fills it with unspeakable buddhas, lands, and beings across all three times, one final demonstration before the chapter falls silent.
「佛子！諸佛世尊有十種無礙解脫。何等為十？所謂：一切諸佛能於一塵現不可說不可說諸佛出興於世；一切諸佛能於一塵現不可說不可說諸佛轉淨法輪；一切諸佛能於一塵現不可說不可說眾生受化調伏；一切諸佛能於一塵現不可說不可說諸佛國土；一切諸佛能於一塵現不可說不可說菩薩授記；一切諸佛能於一塵現去、來、今一切諸佛；一切諸佛能於一塵現去、來、今諸世界種；一切諸佛能於一塵現去、來、今一切神通；一切諸佛能於一塵現去、來、今一切眾生；一切諸佛能於一塵現去、來、今一切佛事。是為十。」
"Sons of the Buddha! The buddhas, the World-Honored Ones, have ten kinds of unobstructed liberation. What are these ten? They are: every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest the arising in the world of unspeakable, unspeakable buddhas; every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest unspeakable, unspeakable buddhas turning the pure dharma-wheel; every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest unspeakable, unspeakable sentient beings receiving transformation and being tamed; every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest unspeakable, unspeakable buddha-lands; every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest unspeakable, unspeakable bodhisattvas receiving predictions; every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest every buddha of the past, future, and present; every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest every kind of world of the past, future, and present; every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest every spiritual power of the past, future, and present; every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest every sentient being of the past, future, and present; and every buddha is able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest every buddha-work of the past, future, and present. These are the ten."
能於一塵現不可說不可說諸佛出興於世 — able, within a single mote of dust, to manifest the arising in the world of unspeakable, unspeakable buddhas. This closes the entire discourse Blue Lotus Treasury Bodhisattva began delivering in Part 580, in answer to a question the assembly never spoke aloud — how a buddha's lands, body, voice, wisdom, and liberation could possibly be inconceivable. Dozens of lists of ten later, the chapter ends exactly where its central image keeps returning: a single mote of dust, holding everything.
Part 607 Complete — Chapter Thirty-Three and Fascicle Forty-Seven Complete
This completes chapter thirty-three, 佛不思議法品, and with it, fascicle forty-seven of the Avataṃsaka Sūtra in full. Part 608 opens fascicle forty-eight with chapter thirty-four, 如來十身相海品, as Samantabhadra Bodhisattva begins describing the ocean of marks on the tathāgata's ten bodies.
