Entering the Dharma-Realm Begins
The sūtra's final chapter opens with its own scene: the Buddha at Jetavana, in Anāthapiṇḍada's Garden, seated within a great pavilion together with five hundred bodhisattva-mahāsattvas, Samantabhadra and Mañjuśrī foremost among them. What follows is the beginning of a name list unlike any other in the sūtra — each bodhisattva named individually, one after another, for well over a hundred entries.
A Roll Call Five Hundred Names Long
Rather than describing the assembly in general terms, the sūtra names its members one by one — Blazing-Light Banner, Sumeru Banner, Jewel Banner, and onward — a roll call that will continue across several more Parts before the text finally says "such bodhisattvas as these, five hundred in number, gathered together," acknowledging that even this long a list only begins to name them all.
