The Bodhisattva Roll Call Continues
The roll call moves on from eye to crown, from crown to a series of elaborate topknots — several of them among the longest single names in the entire sūtra — and then into a run of names built on light, before beginning a new run built on banner. Each name remains a distinct epithet rather than a repeated formula.
Topknots Long Enough to Be Sentences
Most names in this list are two or three characters compressed into a single epithet, but the topknot series breaks that pattern: several names stretch into full clauses, such as the topknot adorned by the maṇi-king manifesting the equal mark of all empty space — a name that reads less like a label and more like a description in miniature.
