A Bodhisattva Arrives from the Southwest
The seventh arrival changes not the offering's substance but its source: rather than raising clouds up into empty space, this bodhisattva sends ten kinds of blazing light directly out from every pore of his own body, filling the whole of empty space from within himself.
Light Sent Out from His Own Pores
Every bodhisattva so far has raised an offering up into empty space from outside himself. This seventh bodhisattva instead sends his offering out from his own body directly — ten kinds of blazing light emerging from every pore, echoing the Buddha's own inconceivable power to fill every world from a single pore of his own.
西南方過不可說佛剎微塵數世界海外有世界，名：日光摩尼藏，佛號：普照諸法智月王。彼佛眾中有菩薩，名：摧破一切魔軍智幢王，與世界海微塵數菩薩俱，來向佛所，於一切毛孔中出等虛空界華焰雲、香焰雲、寶焰雲、金剛焰雲、燒香焰雲、電光焰雲、毘盧遮那摩尼寶焰雲、一切金光焰雲、勝藏摩尼王光焰雲、等三世如來海光焰雲，一一皆從毛孔中出，遍虛空界。到佛所已，頂禮佛足，即於西南方化作普現十方法界光明網大摩尼寶樓閣及香燈焰寶蓮華藏師子之座，以離垢藏摩尼網羅覆其身，著出一切眾生發趣音摩尼王嚴飾冠，與其眷屬結跏趺坐。
At that time, in the southwest, beyond an ocean of worlds as numerous as unspeakably many fine motes of dust in every buddha-land, there was a world named Sun-Light Maṇi Treasury, whose buddha was named Universally Illuminating Every Dharma Wisdom-Moon King. In that buddha's own assembly there was a bodhisattva named Wisdom-Banner King Who Crushes Every Army of Māra, who, together with bodhisattvas as numerous as fine motes of dust in an ocean of worlds, came toward the place where the Buddha was, sending forth from every one of his own pores, equal in extent to the realm of empty space itself: clouds of blazing flower-light, clouds of blazing fragrance-light, clouds of blazing jewel-light, clouds of blazing vajra-light, clouds of blazing burning-incense-light, clouds of blazing lightning-light, clouds of blazing Vairocana maṇi-jewel light, clouds of blazing light of every kind of gold, clouds of blazing light of victorious-treasury maṇi king, and clouds of blazing light equal to the ocean of every tathāgata across the three times — each and every one of them emerging from his own pores, pervading the entire realm of empty space. Having arrived where the Buddha was, they bowed in reverence at his feet, and then, in the southwest, conjured a great maṇi-jewel pavilion woven of light universally manifesting the ten directions and the entire dharma-realm, together with a lion-seat of jeweled lotus-treasury blazing with fragrant lamps; covered their own bodies with nets of stainless-treasury maṇi; wore an ornamented crown of maṇi king that gives forth the very sound that sets every sentient being out upon the path; and sat down cross-legged there together with their own retinues.
於一切毛孔中出……一一皆從毛孔中出 — sending forth from every one of his own pores. The sūtra earlier named the tathāgata's own ability to send transformation-clouds and manifest entire kalpas from within a single pore as one of ten reasons the whole scene is inconceivable; here a bodhisattva's own body performs the same kind of act in miniature, offering light out of himself rather than merely raising it up from outside.
