Mañjuśrī's Verse Response
Rather than answering Good-Wealth's eleven questions one by one, Mañjuśrī responds in verse — naming him a treasury of merit, praising the vast vow already made, and speaking as though the boy's own future accomplishment of Samantabhadra's practice were already an accomplished fact.
Spoken as Already Accomplished
Every verb in Mañjuśrī's own verse sits in a tense that treats Good-Wealth's future as settled: you have already given rise to vows, you already see every buddha, you already cultivate Samantabhadra's own practice — spoken to a boy who, moments ago, was still only asking how to begin.
爾時，文殊師利菩薩為善財童子而說頌言：「
善哉功德藏，能來至我所，
發起大悲心，勤求無上覺。
已發廣大願，除滅眾生苦，
普為諸世間，修行菩薩行。
若有諸菩薩，不厭生死苦，
則具普賢道，一切無能壞。
福光福威力，福處福淨海；
汝為諸眾生，願修普賢行。
汝見無邊際，十方一切佛，
皆悉聽聞法，受持不忘失。
At that time, Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva spoke this verse for the boy Good-Wealth, saying:
Excellent, O treasury of merit, that you have been able to come to where I am, giving rise to a mind of great compassion, diligently seeking unsurpassed awakening.
You have already given rise to vast and expansive vows, to extinguish the suffering of every sentient being, and universally, for the sake of every world, you cultivate the bodhisattva's own practice.
If there is any bodhisattva who does not weary of the suffering of birth and death, then he is complete in Samantabhadra's own path, and nothing whatsoever can destroy him.
The light of blessedness, the majestic power of blessedness, the very ground of blessedness, the pure ocean of blessedness — for the sake of every sentient being, you vow to cultivate Samantabhadra's own practice.
You see, without any boundary or limit, every buddha throughout the ten directions, and you hear and listen to their dharma entirely, receiving and upholding it without ever forgetting or losing it.
福光福威力，福處福淨海 — the light of blessedness, the majestic power of blessedness, the very ground of blessedness, the pure ocean of blessedness. Four different images of blessedness stacked in a single line — light, power, ground, ocean — each naming a different way that a single quality can be present in someone entirely.
An Ocean of Beings Rejoices
The verse closes by widening its own frame outward: from Good-Wealth's own future accomplishment across measureless lands and eons, to an unnamed multitude of sentient beings who, simply by hearing of his vow, are moved to make the very same vow themselves.
汝於十方界，普見無量佛，
成就諸願海，具足菩薩行。
若入方便海，安住佛菩提，
能隨導師學，當成一切智。
汝遍一切剎，微塵等諸劫，
修行普賢行，成就菩提道。
汝於無量剎，無邊諸劫海，
修行普賢行，成滿諸大願。
此無量眾生，聞汝願歡喜，
皆發菩提意，願學普賢乘。」
Throughout the ten-directional realm, you universally behold measureless buddhas, accomplishing the ocean of every vow, and becoming complete in the bodhisattva's own practice.
If you enter the ocean of skillful means and abide securely in the buddha's own enlightenment, and are able to follow and study under a guiding teacher, you shall accomplish all-knowing wisdom.
Throughout every land, across eons as numerous as motes of dust, you cultivate Samantabhadra's own practice, and accomplish the path to enlightenment.
Throughout measureless lands, across the boundless ocean of every eon, you cultivate Samantabhadra's own practice, and bring every great vow to complete fulfillment.
These measureless sentient beings, hearing of your own vow, rejoice, and all of them give rise to the intention toward enlightenment, vowing to study Samantabhadra's own vehicle."
能隨導師學，當成一切智 — if you are able to follow and study under a guiding teacher, you shall accomplish all-knowing wisdom. Buried in the middle of a verse otherwise devoted to praising what Good-Wealth has already done is the one condition still outstanding: he must actually follow a teacher. The rest of this fascicle exists to answer exactly which one.

This continues chapter thirty-nine, 入法界品, in fascicle sixty-two. Part 901 turns to Mañjuśrī's own prose counsel on seeking a true good spiritual friend, and to the naming of Good-Wealth's very first teacher: the monk Virtue-Cloud, on Wondrous-Peak Mountain in the country of Victorious-Joy.
