From His Eyes, Suns That Relieve the Hells
Where the previous emanations taught and guarded, the suns from Sea-Banner's own eyes go directly to the worst places this cosmology offers — the great hells themselves — before settling into a quieter pattern: each jeweled land lit not in its own color, but in the color of its own opposite.
Light Exchanged Between Opposite Treasures
After illuminating the hells and the dark spaces between worlds, the light settles into a deliberate pattern: silver lands receive gold light, gold lands receive silver light, lapis lazuli and crystal trade with each other — every jeweled land lit not by its own color but by another's.
從其兩目，出無數百千億日輪，普照一切諸大地獄及諸惡趣，皆令離苦；又照一切世界中間，令除黑暗；又照一切十方眾生，皆令捨離愚癡翳障；於垢濁國土放清淨光，白銀國土放黃金色光，黃金國土放白銀色光，瑠璃國土放玻瓈色光，玻瓈國土放瑠璃色光，硨磲國土放碼碯色光，碼碯國土放硨磲色光，帝青國土放日藏摩尼王色光，日藏摩尼王國土放帝青色光，赤真珠國土放月光網藏摩尼王色光，月光網藏摩尼王國土放赤真珠色光，一寶所成國土放種種寶色光，種種寶所成國土放一寶色光，照諸眾生心之稠林，辦諸眾生無量事業，嚴飾一切世間境界，令諸眾生心得清涼生大歡喜。如是所作，充滿法界。
From his two eyes, there emerged countless hundreds of thousands of millions of solar disks, universally illuminating every one of the great hells and every evil destiny, causing every one of them to depart from suffering; and further illuminating the space between every world, causing darkness to be removed; and further illuminating every sentient being throughout the ten directions, causing every one of them to abandon and depart from the obscuring obstruction of ignorance; in defiled and turbid lands, they emitted pure light; in lands of silver, they emitted light the color of gold; in lands of gold, they emitted light the color of silver; in lands of lapis lazuli, they emitted light the color of crystal; in lands of crystal, they emitted light the color of lapis lazuli; in lands of giant clam-shell, they emitted light the color of carnelian; in lands of carnelian, they emitted light the color of giant clam-shell; in lands of sapphire, they emitted light the color of the sun-treasury maṇi king; in lands of the sun-treasury maṇi king, they emitted light the color of sapphire; in lands of red pearl, they emitted light the color of the moon-light net-treasury maṇi king; in lands of the moon-light net-treasury maṇi king, they emitted light the color of red pearl; in lands made of a single treasure, they emitted light of every kind of treasure's own color; and in lands made of every kind of treasure, they emitted light of a single treasure's own color; illuminating the dense forest of every sentient being's own mind, accomplishing every sentient being's own measureless task, adorning the domain of every world, and causing every sentient being's own mind to become cool and at ease, giving rise to great joy. All such deeds as these fill the entire dharma-realm.
一寶所成國土放種種寶色光，種種寶所成國土放一寶色光 — in lands made of a single treasure, they emitted light of every kind of treasure's own color; and in lands made of every kind of treasure, they emitted light of a single treasure's own color. The pattern reaches its own logical extreme here: not just pairs of opposite jewels trading light, but singularity and multiplicity themselves swapped, each land shown the one thing it does not already have.
