Every Language, Every Mind
The list turns to delivering sentient beings from every evil destiny into rebirth among devas and humans, cultivating boundless dhāraṇī-gates and vows, and knowing every destiny of rebirth so precisely that boundless transformation-bodies can be manifested to match — down to knowing every mind and every language of speech.
Boundless Transformation-Bodies for Boundless Rebirths
「……除滅無量惡道諸難；令無量眾生生天人中；總攝無量諸眾生類；淨修無量陀羅尼門；成滿無量諸大願行；修習無量大慈願力；不惜壽命，求無量法；修習無量寂滅法力；出生無量淨智通明；知無量眾生諸趣受生，而為應現無量化身；知無量心諸語言法；悉入菩薩無量諸行，修菩薩法；觀察菩薩甚深法門；覺悟菩薩難知境界；……」
"… eliminate boundless hardships of every evil destiny; cause boundless sentient beings to be reborn among devas and humans; gather in every kind of boundless sentient being without exception; purely cultivate boundless dhāraṇī-gates; perfectly fulfill boundless great vows and conduct; cultivate the power of boundless great loving-kindness and vow; without begrudging one's own life, seek boundless Dharma; cultivate the power of boundless quiescent Dharma; give rise to boundless pure wisdom and penetrating insight; know the boundless destinies into which sentient beings take rebirth, and manifest boundless transformation-bodies in response; know boundless minds and every language and dharma of speech; enter fully into the bodhisattva's own boundless conduct, cultivating the bodhisattva's own Dharma; contemplate the bodhisattva's own extremely profound Dharma-gates; awaken to the bodhisattva's own domain, difficult to know … [the list continues]"
"Without begrudging one's own life, seek boundless Dharma" briefly interrupts the list's own steady rhythm of cultivating and knowing with a note of personal cost — a reminder, amid so much abstract enumeration, that this pursuit is not costless. Fazang connects the pairing of knowing "boundless destinies of rebirth" with manifesting "boundless transformation-bodies in response" directly to the very tower Sudhana is approaching: precisely this capacity — matching an infinite variety of forms to an infinite variety of beings — is what the tower's own vision will shortly display at a scale beyond ordinary description.
