The Complete Map of the Path.
The Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra — the Treatise on the Stages of Yogic Practice — is the foundational text of the Yogācāra school: a systematic account of the entire path, from the five sense consciousnesses through the stages of meditative attainment to the bodhisattva path and final liberation, in one hundred fascicles. This page is the entrance for reading it fascicle by fascicle.
How to read this collection
Each fascicle is treated as a study unit, with the classical Chinese and our English translation set side by side, followed by reading notes drawn from the commentary tradition.
Our interpretive choices follow the hundred-fascicle lecture notes of Master Cháng Bǎi (常柏法師, 2003–2010) — the only complete commentary, covering all one hundred fascicles, among those that survive in full. Where his lectures overlap with those of his own teacher, the late Venerable Miào Jìng (妙境長老), we keep our terminology aligned with Ru-Yi's companion translation of that earlier series, so one vocabulary carries the whole treatise.
What each essay will include
- Chinese source text beside a fresh English translation.
- Reading notes drawn from Master Cháng Bǎi's commentary.
- Consistent renderings of technical Yogācāra terms.
- Cross-references to the parallel Miào Jìng translation, fascicles 1–50.

Miào Jìng's Lectures
Fascicles 1–50 can also be studied through Ru-Yi's translation of Venerable Miào Jìng's earlier lecture series on this same treatise.
